What kind of liquid glue couild I use to add sequinces and buttons to my scrapbook pages? |
I would suggest using the Sakura Quickie Glue Pen or some glitter pens or mini glue dots. You could also use any glue that is used for mounting pictures. |
I am looking for more boy items for my scrapbooking such as archery, shooting, ATV, monster trucks, pirates, and indians. Do you have any suggestions. |
Sometimes you can find clipart that contains these items and you can print them out on a color printer than use a xyron machine to make stickers out of them. |
When using page protectors- I usually hide my journaling-should I cut(slit) the page protector so the that items can be lifted to view? If so, how would you recommend keeping the plastic from ripping any more after a little wear? |
I usually eliminate this problem by using "keepsake pockets. This way you can slide the item out of the pocket and look at it.. Depending on the way the page is laid out, and the amount of pages of info inside, I sometimes photo copy the inside and use it for a mini collage on the page. |

How do I make a special memorial in scrap booking for a lost love one? |
I would concentrate on the highlights of the deceased person's life. Use theme paper that includes the hobbies of the deceased. You could use a favorite show, song, hobby. I am certain anything you choose will be a wonderful tribute. |

Different types of adhesive. |
The most important rule is that your adhesive be acid free. You have to be very careful because glues with an odor can turn your photos yellow. Here are a few that are good to use: Glue sticks that are acid free Glue dots (my favorite). They come in rolls and they have sticky on both sides. They hold really well and are great for small items. They can be used with metal charms, ribbons, buttons and so many different embellishments. They come in a thick style and this gives the page a three-D raised effect. Photo splits are also good. They stick down and then the blue part is peeled off and you stick the item to the paper. Tape runners are good but some are tricky. You would run the dispenser along the piece that you want to put down. This leaves glue on the item. I love this for journal boxes. Best use is for large pieces that need coverage around the edges. Photo corners is another good sticky. You place the pieces over the corner edge of your photo and then press it on the page. This is a good way to make the photo readily available to be taken out and have copies made of and then replace it on the page. Xyron Machine works great. You can turn any photo or paper art into a sticker. You role your paper through it and it applies adhesive to the back of the item and turns it into a sticker. Check out these machines. They come in a variety of sizes and work well. They are especially good for smaller items that are difficult to get adhesive on without being messy. Vellum tape: Nice to use for sticking vellum without showing through. Take care and make sure you don’t get too messy with it. |

Paper |
Acid and lignin (a natural component of wood) are present in most paper. Lignin will break down and become acid over time. Make sure your paper is acid-free and lignin-free for longest photo life. De-stickify your scissors Clean scissors is another important part of scrapbooking. No matter how hard you try to keep your scissors “sticky” free you need to have a way to clean them. Alcohol pads (prepackaged) are a handy item for this. These are great for a quick clean-up. I also use Un-fo on a cotton ball to take the sticky stuff right off. I use it to clean my scissors before I put them away so they are ready to go for the next time. |

Selecting a Scrapbook |
In order to have success with scrapbooking you need to give some thought to the size and shape of scrapbook you want to use for your project. The 12x12 size is very popular. You should use the type that has the coverings for each page. This way when people are viewing the scrapbook you don’t have to worry about things falling off the page from misuse. You should also take into consideration if you are going to use the scrapbook as it is or if you need to add pages to it for future entries. You also need to select a cover that is appealing. If you are going to spend a lot of time and money taking photos and mounting them it is important to choose the right album. Always choose an album that is lignin and acid free. Lignin is a chemical in wood pulp which when not removed in the paper manufacturing process will cause paper to yellow and crumble. Both acid and lignin accelerate photo fading and general deterioration. |
